This paper presents the results of a population study of 4 VNTR loci: D2S44, D10S28, D17S59 and D17S26. The allele distributions are in accordance with Hardy-Weinberg expectations. Values of heterozygosity, polymorphic information content, power of discrimination, mean exclusion chance and typical paternity index demonstrate that these systems are valuable tools for paternity testing.
