This report focuses on the notion of self-control. In the theoretical part of this report, the two conceptions of control that are best known and most often used in criminal investigations are presented (W. C. Reckless, J. B. Rotter). Later on in this paper some conceptions of personality mechanisms are characterised. These mechanisms can influence the formation of the locus of self-control. The empirical part of the report is made up of reports from studies of 54 perpetrators.
